PHARMA FORMULATIONS

Pharmaceutical formulation development links the discovery of a new drug substance to the successful development of a commercial drug product. “ASPL“ Formulation development team determines the most appropriate route for achieving effective drug delivery based on patient need, then optimise the formulation’s characteristics based on a knowledge of the drug product’s bioavailability and processing requirements.

Development of a successful pharmaceutical formulation requires the combination of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) with inactive excipients. Excipients may be simple bulking agents, designed to aid control of the dose content uniformity. Increasingly, though, some excipients have a functional role in controlling drug release or ensuring the drug reaches the desired site of action. Here, compatibility between the selected excipient and the drug substance is critical in ensuring the correct dose is delivered within the required therapeutic window.

HERBAL/AYUREVEDIC FORMULATIONS

The Ayurveda system of medicine has been in use for a long time. ‘Ayurveda’ is a Sanskrit word made of two words: ‘ayur’ (meaning life) and ‘veda’ (meaning science). Ayurveda aims to achieve good health and the overall well-being of a person. The practices and remedies are formulated to balance different aspects of the mind, body, and spirit. In Ayurvedic medicines, herbs and spices play a crucial role, while medicinal plants are used to make pills, capsules, oral liquids, churna, and sherbets.

Most Ayurvedic medications are made from plant materials such as root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit extract, or the complete plant. Herbal products and medications such as aristha, awaleha, churna, chyawanprash, etc, are made from medicinal herbs and animal extracts. There are approximately 21 different compounds of Ayurvedic formulations that can be used in a single medication of animal origin, mineral origin and plant origin.

NEUTRACEUTICALS

Consumers of dietary supplements and functional foods are becoming increasingly aware of their health choices when it comes to product selection and long-term brand loyalty. Scientific proof of effectiveness, the purity and sustainability of ingredients, an assurance of product quality, and the comfort and convenience of the formulation are now critical factors for success when it comes to the development of nutraceutical products. In parallel, worldwide regulatory agencies are closely reviewing the quality, safety and efficacy of nutraceutical ingredients and finished products. “ASPL” has leveraged its decades of market leadership in the pharmaceutical industry with APIs, functional excipients and oral solid dosage forms to position itself as a leading global nutraceuticals development partner to help customers reduce project risk and accelerate speed to market. In addition, we serve as a global industrialization and commercial supply partner for advanced food ingredients and other substances made via microbial fermentation processes.

AGRI-PRODUCTS
&SPICES

The pesticide formulation is a mixture of active and other ingredients (previously called inert ingredients). Pesticides come in many different formulations due to variations in the active ingredient's solubility, ability to control the pest, and ease of handling and transport. The type of surface, training, equipment, runoff, drift, habits of the pest, and safety are all considered when the “ASPL” team designs a pesticide formulation.

During the beginning stage of germination, the seeds take up water rapidly and this results in swelling and softening of the seed coat at an optimum temperature. This stage is referred to as Imbibition. It starts the growth process by activation of enzymes. The seed activates its internal physiology and starts to respire and produce proteins and metabolizes the stored food. This is a lag phase of seed germination.

In the final stage of seed germination, the cell of the seeds become metabolically active, elongates and divides to give rise to the seedling
